Would an International Affairs degree be a good precursor to med school?

I'm most interested in International Affairs and/or Economics as my undergraduate major at The University of Cincinnati. I want to pick something that I will enjoy and that will also stand out to admissions. Is this a good idea? I recognize that I would have to take the required pre-med classes that would not at all overlap with these majors. I think I'm okay with that.
