Do Hounds really run?

Any hound that is off leash and out of a fence will trail the first scent it catches. That's not a bad thing, it's a natural thing. My basset did it and my redbone does it. They just need a knowledgeable owner. My basset got out once and was gone for 2 months. I was sick with worry. We got her back and she lived out her life trailing chickens in the yard.
