Can some one let me know?

can some one let me know how do i myself do reformatting /reinstalling the operating system of my computer system.My mail pages are becoming odd and the text overlaps. can i myself will be able to handle it and rectify given guidelines or should i to depend on some one. Please help/guide. thanks
