Extremely chemically damaged hair breaking off near root need desperate help! :(?

Hi I have been getting hi lights for the last years and my hair was always ok it was naturally strong and fairly thick. In the last year i got my hole head bleached and got my roots redone about 5 times. I decided I didn't want to bleach my hair any more as it was starting to break alot! I got a hi lift colour on my roots instead with 40vol peroxide, my natural base 5 was too dark so the colour came out orangy but this is the least of my worries... My hair is snapping off about an inch from the root from where the hilift colour overlapped the already bleached hair! I am a trainee hairdresser and should have known better :-( The crown of my head has almost lost all its lenght, i got short layers cut in but the broken hairs are sticking up an inch from my head and its very hard to hide them! Since this happened I am only washing my hair once a week I am using joico k-pak reconstructer and kerastase nuitri thermique masque and redken anti-snap and still my hair is breaking of more at the root every time i wash it! I got about 4 inchs cut off my hair really dont want to go any shorter it is above my shoulders now and I have a round face.I have stoped using heat and barely even try and comb my hair these days :-( I wont be dying my hair blond again and will go brown when my hair is fit for it. I was told to put in a brown semi soon as it will deposit colour and make it stronger..is this true? Im still wary of doing this because of peroxide that may be in the semi! Please help any advice on products that worked for others in my situation or haircare that I am not doing would be greatly appreciated! thank you :-( xx
